I am officially an overnight oats convert! I was a bit sceptical about the thought of cold oatmeal at first but after trying it and experimenting with different flavour combinations, I can officially say that I love the idea! It’s simple to make and very convenient as all you have to do is make the oat base the night before, and in the morning before school or work, you just grab it out of the fridge, add whatever topping you like and enjoy! Trust me, the flavour combinations are endless! For this recipe I decided to go for a classic strawberry and banana flavour.
Sometimes we are just so busy that the thought of standing over a hot stove waiting for oats to cook early in the morning is just so long! Who would say no to a ready-to-eat breakfast like this? Also, you can make multiple for your busy week ahead, store them in jars and grab-and-go! This recipe also makes for a delicious dessert. All you guys with a sweet tooth out there, you might want to give this recipe a try! Without further ado, here is the recipe:-
Ingredients (1 portion):-
7 tablespoons/40 grams of oats
2 tablespoons of greek yogurt
1/2 cup of a milk of your choice (I used oat milk of course!)
(Optional- 1 teaspoon of chia seeds)
(Optional- 1 teaspoon maple syrup)
Strawberry smoothie topping
1 splash of water (for blending)
- The night before, mix all your base ingredients together, put in a container and leave in the fridge until morning.
- In the morning, take your oats out of the fridge and leave out for 10 minutes so that they are not too cold when you are ready to eat (personal preference).
- Blend your smoothie ingredients and add to the top of your oat base.
- Add your toppings and enjoy!
